Abstract

Silica- or alumina-supported bis(allyl)rhodium(III) reacts with PMe 3, producing an unstable mono(allyl)rhodium(III) fragment which undergoes C-O bond formation to give allyl alcohol which is then decarbonylated, as demonstrated by IR spectroscopy, isotopic labelling, elemental analysis and 31P solid-state MAS NMR.
