Numerical analysis of growth of non-spherical silica particles in a counterflow diffusion flame

Abstract

The evolution of non-spherical particles in a counterflow diffusion flame was studied. SiCl4 was used as the source of silicon in hydrogen/oxygen/argon flames. The calculated temperature profiles showed good agreement with experimental data. Solving one and two dimensional aerosol dynamics equation in a flame, the evolution of non-spherical particles was obtained and compared with the previous experimental data.
