Abstract

The use of composite materials for several applications in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries requires advanced virtual testing, structural health monitoring and diagnosis and numerical tools for engineers. The efficient and cost-effective techniques for maintaining aging structures and predicting their remaining useful lives are developed by integrating diagnostic and prognostic frameworks. The new post-processing techniques are developed to directly identify multiple model parameters from two dimensions or three-dimensional full field measurements. The techniques such as finite element model updating (FEMU), the constitutive equation gap (CEG), the virtual fields (VF) and the equilibrium method (EG) allow to conduct the identification directly on complex heterogeneous experiments. The improvement in the robustness of the available techniques and especially working on their generalization to non-linear identification can lead to the advancements of industrial standards.
