Abstract
-Valerolactone (GVL) is a promising bio-based platform molecule. Hydrogen (H) abstraction is the main consumption pathway for GVL at intermediate to high temperature conditions. Overall reaction rate coefficients are measured in a shock tube for the reaction of GVL with hydroxyl radicals over 990 – 1294 K and pressures near 1.2 atm. Ultraviolet OH absorption diagnostic is used to measure the consumption of OH radicals. This work presents the first direct measurements of the titled reaction. Results are fitted in Arrhenius expression: = 4.87 × 10−10(−4440 /) 3−1−1 The data from this work are compared with GVL isomer and show reasonable agreement with the experimental values of methyl butanoate.
