Abstract
An alternative approach to materials for light emitting diodes (LEDs) based on conjugated dendrimers is presented. As such, color tuning is demonstrated and red, green and blue dendrimer LEDs are fabricated. The design allows a great freedom in the choice of core chromophore and thus offers the scope for molecular engineering and tailoring of properties for applications. This flexibility of design makes conjugated dendrimers very attractive materials for organic LEDs (OLEDs), combining the well-defined structure of small organic molecules with the solution-processibility of conjugated polymers.
