N2 - A simple and convenient one-pot reaction for the synthesis of arylidene 2-aminoimidazolone derivatives from structurally diverse benzaldehydes, amines and 2-(methylthio)-1H-imidazol-4(5H)-one is described. The reaction offers flexibility of use of electron-rich and electron-deficient benzaldehydes and mono and di-substituted amines for the rapid development of combinatorial library.
